Ep 83: Best Books Lately with Christine Koh

christine-koh-jill-krause.jpg

It’s time for another episode about the best books we’ve read lately! This time I'm joined by Christine Koh, an author, speaker, blogger, podcaster, designer, and scientist. Yes, DR. Christine Koh is all of those things, and on this episode she is sharing books that speak to the Asian American experience AND her newfound love of the romance genre.

I'm sharing two books about cults, what I'm reading before I fall asleep at night, and the novel that took me totally by surprise.

So there is a LOT packed into this conversation.

I've never done this before, but I need to make a few corrections for misstatements and mispronunciations in Ep 83.

  • The correct title for the Ryan Holiday book is Stillness is the KEY (Not Stillness is the Way)

  • Min Jin Lee does appear to be working on a new book, but it has not released yet

  • The author of Midwives is Chris Bohjalian and it is pronounced BO-JOWL-YEN

  • The author of Homegoing and Transcendent Kingdom is Yaa Gyasi and her name is pronounced YAW JESSIE. (This one I am especially apologetic for, I love this author and this was a major misstep. Please make sure if you're talking about these books to say her name correctly.)

I made a note of these corrections on the show with some new audio. If you've already downloaded and/or listened, you won't hear it, but for anyone who hasn't yet, it will hopefully be added to the beginning. If you get an error trying to play the episode at all, please refresh/close out your app and then it should be fine.
